Spring is cranking up- it’s getting hot!

image Wow, how time flies… Last week we got some red mulch for the flower beds and tried to make few things look a little better. We got some tomatoes, bell peppers, Jalapeños and some herbs. We had a old friend drop by last week; Kim was here on Wednesday. She was here on business, but managed to get some free time and drop by our house.

Beck found a patio set for an incredible $40. It’s a large table, with the tiles you can replace, 6 chairs; two of them are rocker/swivel chairs. it came with an umbrella and stand, but we didn’t need it.

And there’s more…

We’re in… our new house!

image The moving started Friday. The UHAUL truck was picked up Friday afternoon and I drove it back to the house. We had a bunch of plastic tubs, so we went ahead and loaded those ourselves.

The movers showed up almost an hour late, but they did a great job. They got all the heavy stuff and put it on the truck in about 45 minutes and then we left for the new house; 8.4 miles away.

They unpacked the furniture and put it in the places Beck needed it; mostly upstairs. And all the tubs were placed in the garage.

We have nothing put together. The garage is a storage nightmare and Beck has a kitchen to rebuild, I’ve fans to mount and many more things to do.

Ethan has already been playing the back yard since the first day; it’s awesome. The yard is huge. Ethan, Britty and I can run around in the back yard, kicking the ball around and playing catch- it’s much better than before… Britty is already back in school; she’s close enough to where she can walk there in about 15 minutes. So, unless it’s raining.. she’s walkin’.

There’s a pond close by. I’m going to see if I can get Ethan to go down there with me to fish. Should be interesting.

I was sad to see my garden go… I didn’t ever get a chance to get any really good tomatoes from it, but it was tryin’. Maybe next year…

Until next time,

Our Garden @ 3 weeks

imageWe’ve had 3 tomatoes come off, but they are only  the size of a golf ball.

The squash, cucumbers and jalapeños are coming in pretty good.

I’m keeping the garden watered and waiting to see how the bell peppers do.

I’ve to admit it’s getting warmer and I’m kinda’ worried about the Texas heat beat’n he heck out’ta my plants.

If it gets too bad, I’ll be building a small green house type cover with holes in it to let the water through, but mostly to block the direct sun…

Until next time,

Ethan shows off new tomatoes

So the garden is growing and Ethan likes watering it any time we are outside. On a random moment he starts talking about tomatoes and that they are growing and that they’re turning colors.

I tried to catch it.

Until next time,

Call us ‘Country’

imageThe week started off getting to know some of our new neighbors; they’re kinda’ long in the horn, but they keep to their selves and they keep their grass mowed.

They have a nice little yard on the corner and they seem to like saying hi to all the people as they turn in to the neighborhood.

But they come out when they want… and no one argues with them.

We Were driving down the road and caught this picture of a fluffy purple flower.

We were sitting at a red light and we just happen’d to have our camera.

Becca snatched up the camera and took a cool little picture; I think it turned out pretty good considering we started moving just as she snapped the shot.

Haven’t figure out what it is yet.

image Texas is hard on gardens [small ones any ways]. So I decided that till’n up the ground and weeding and all that stuff wasn’t for me.

I decided to go down to Lowes and spend about $50 on a garden box. 3  1 x 10 x 6’s and cut one in half an put 3 3” screws in each corner, placed a liner in there and dumped 6 bags of miracle grow in my private little Eden.

We’re going to be having cilantro, jalapenos, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, banana peppers, herbs and cantaloupe.

Some nice shots of Ethan; he likes to help and give things a go..

We had a garage sale this weekend, or Becca did. Came rain and shine and people still showed up in droves and car loads.

I never ceases to amaze me on the people who come to a yard sale that have rock bottom prices and want to haggle over 25 cents; it’s insane.

I took a picture of the from bushes that still had water on them from the recent rain; it turned out good I think.
